Okemos Community celebrates remodel
Okemos Community Church, 4734 Okemos Road in Okemos, marks the completion of an extensive remodeling project with an open house from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. A brief dedication ceremony will be held at 2:30 p.m., and light refreshments will be available.
The renovation included the entrances, lounge, classrooms, offices, library, chapel, nursery, social hall, restrooms and food bank.
The church dates its beginnings to a congregation that met in private homes in the 1840s. The first building was erected in 1870; a reproduction of it stands in the Meridian Historical Village.
